In association with LBNewham, we are hosting some community singing evenings at Stratford Library and The Gate.

These will begin with a session at The Gate on Weds 11th. Oct, and at Stratford Library on Fri 20th. Oct. Venues will alternate each week thereafter (details above). Its also made the Newham magazine!

Come along for some musical relaxation with a friendly vibe –  you can look forward to learning a mixed repertoire of pieces, including those in the links below. All welcome, no experience required.

A New Term

Forest Voices returned to sing this week, after our long Summer break.

We welcomed back our existing members, and were delighted to see new faces too!

Jane has clearly been busy, and we wasted no time getting started on our new repertoire (see links below).

These are already sounding gorgeous, but don’t take our word for it – come along and find out for yourselves. New members are welcome at any time!

Return to the Southbank….

Our term may have ended, but we’re still singing!

On Tuesday 18th July, we will join with young voices gathered at the Southbank Centre, for ‘Peace in Every Voice’. As part of a lovely varied programme, we (along with other choirs in the audience) will join the performers for the first and last pieces of the evening.

Tickets are still available, details on the link below.

Singing at the Southbank

We are delighted to have been given a slot to perform at this year’s Chorus Festival.

It takes place this weekend, and features workshops, interactive displays and lots of different choirs to enjoy.

We are performing at 3.45 on the Sunday (July 2nd.), on the Mandela stage. In the shadow of his statue, we will present a varied programme from gospel to contemporary indie tunes, via a few African nods to Nelson. Details of the festival are in the link below.

Exciting stuff – break a leg, everyone :)!

The Big Lunch….with musical accompaniment!

On June 18th, Forest Voices will join forces with New YVC and The Stratford Library Singers to bring music to the Olympic Park.

The event is part of The Great Get Together, and we’ll be singing at the acoustic tent, somewhere between 2 and 4pm.

Pack a picnic, keep your fingers crossed for favourable weather – and come along!

Details can be found in the link below.

Here Comes the Sun….

…and we say, it’s alright!

Has the sunshine put you in the mood to sing? Forest Voices can lift your spirits, whatever the weather chooses to do.

We’re currently learning a new song to sing as part of a massed choir of voices at the Festival Hall in July – details to follow.

Sharing Event

For the last couple of months, our very own Jane, Itoyah and Mohan have been encouraging people to find their voices at Stratford Library, as part of the Community Neighbourhood extended hours programme.

This culminates in a sharing event, where the group will be performing their songs – Forest Voices members will be there to lend support and enjoy the music. Come along to Stratford Library on May 5th at 6pm – you’ll be treated to a version of this!

Good luck, everyone!

Blowing Bubbles

FB_IMG_1492900476469On Saturday, we lent our musical support to the Bike from Boleyn event, held to highlight the campaign to keep the Bobby Moore statue in place (and prevent it’s removal to the Olympic Park). Lovely to see the community come together for the cause!

Thanks to Linda for sharing the photo :).
