So…. we have been embracing technology to maintain our musical endeavours, and keeping to our rehearsal sessions on Zoom. It’s a challenge, and not the same…but we get to see each other, sing, and share a giggle or three 🙂 .
We are proud to present our virtual choir version of Flow Water – vocals mixed by our leader Jane Wheeler, and visuals edited by her clever nephew Aaron. Enjoy 🙂 !
Eight weeks into lockdown, and it really is about time for a post!
We have all been acquiring new skills, and Forest Voices are learning to sing together via Zoom. It’s lovely to see each other and use music to lift the spirits – just like a regular Thursday evening session 🙂
It’s no secret how much good singing can do, there’s lots of opportunities on different platforms…or just the radio or favourite CD will do. Sing out!
We are currently testing our virtual capabilities with this piece. Happy singing!
We here at Forest Voices are well aware of the benefits of singing.
But don’t just take our word for it – come and experience it for yourself! Your mind, body and soul will thank you for it.
In the meantime, enjoy a tune we’ve just started work on….turn it up and sing along :).
After our long Summer break, Forest Voices return to sing again this evening.
We look forward to joining in song once more…..with anticipation of some new tunes and new friends along the way.
New members are always welcome – no auditions! – feel free to contact us for details.
In the meantime, some photographic reflections on the gigs we enjoyed during Summer term – at the Wanstead Tap, Forest Gate Festival and Cross rail Roof Garden…..joining with musical friends The Dog Jammers and Isle of Dogs Voices.
Forest Voices have been busy rehearsing for our forthcoming gig, a collaboration with local musicians The Dog Jammers.
The evening promises top tunes, convivial company and a warm welcome to join in, or just sit and enjoy.
There’ll be favourites old and new, across three sets – choir, choir and band, band – with something for everyone.
Great way to celebrate Midsummer – details on the flyer!
This coming Monday evening, we’ll be joining our friends, the Isle of Dogs Choir, to share some tunes.
We’ll be singing some of our own, and joining forces with them to raise the glass roof!
The singing starts at 6.30pm – we’d love to see you there! Full details in the photos.
So, we’re back after the Whitsun break – and with several upcoming gigs in the diary (watch this space….!), it’s back to rehearsing some fantastic pieces of music for our usual eclectic repertoire.
As always, new members are welcome to join anytime – first session is free :).
Most recently added to the list is this classic from Mr. Spectre and his wall of sound – enjoy!
After what felt like a long break over Easter, Forest Voices returned last Thursday, to sing towards Summer.
This Thursday, we move elsewhere for the evening – to take part in a gig at the Applecart. We’ll be performing a few songs, and providing backing vocals for Carol Grimes on the classic R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
It promises to be a great evening – details here!
Here at Forest Voices, we are well into 2018 and back to singing with gusto.
We are proud to be a community choir, and in this capacity, we have been invited to perform at Newham’s Community Builders event at Stratford Town Hall this evening.
It might be halfterm, but the music goes on! Along with members of NewYVC, we will debut our version of this musical theatre gem – press play and enjoy!
In other news, we’re busy composing an original song to perform as part of the Journey to Justice project…updates will follow.
As we prepare to welcome 2018, Forest Voices can look back on another successful, music-filled year. We go from strength to strength, welcoming new members and adding more gorgeous pieces to our repertoire as we go.
If you are thinking of New Years Resolutions, resolve to improve your well-being with 90+ minutes of therapy a week…also known as our rehearsal/ session every Thursday. Come along and feel the benefits! Just look at the faces in the photos of our festive endeavours – proof (if any were needed) of the joy communal singing brings.
WISHING YOU A HEALTHY, PEACEFUL, JOYOUS NEW YEAR!
from all at Forest Voices
