Our term may have ended, but we’re still singing!
On Tuesday 18th July, we will join with young voices gathered at the Southbank Centre, for ‘Peace in Every Voice’. As part of a lovely varied programme, we (along with other choirs in the audience) will join the performers for the first and last pieces of the evening.
Tickets are still available, details on the link below.
We are delighted to have been given a slot to perform at this year’s Chorus Festival.
It takes place this weekend, and features workshops, interactive displays and lots of different choirs to enjoy.
We are performing at 3.45 on the Sunday (July 2nd.), on the Mandela stage. In the shadow of his statue, we will present a varied programme from gospel to contemporary indie tunes, via a few African nods to Nelson. Details of the festival are in the link below.
Exciting stuff – break a leg, everyone :)!
Festival trailer –
On June 18th, Forest Voices will join forces with New YVC and The Stratford Library Singers to bring music to the Olympic Park.
The event is part of The Great Get Together, and we’ll be singing at the acoustic tent, somewhere between 2 and 4pm.
Pack a picnic, keep your fingers crossed for favourable weather – and come along!
Details can be found in the link below.
…and we say, it’s alright!
Has the sunshine put you in the mood to sing? Forest Voices can lift your spirits, whatever the weather chooses to do.
We’re currently learning a new song to sing as part of a massed choir of voices at the Festival Hall in July – details to follow.
For the last couple of months, our very own Jane, Itoyah and Mohan have been encouraging people to find their voices at Stratford Library, as part of the Community Neighbourhood extended hours programme.
This culminates in a sharing event, where the group will be performing their songs – Forest Voices members will be there to lend support and enjoy the music. Come along to Stratford Library on May 5th at 6pm – you’ll be treated to a version of this!
Good luck, everyone!
On Saturday, we lent our musical support to the Bike from Boleyn event, held to highlight the campaign to keep the Bobby Moore statue in place (and prevent it’s removal to the Olympic Park). Lovely to see the community come together for the cause!
Thanks to Linda for sharing the photo :).
We have a little list of upcoming engagements which will be added as and when they are finalised, but in the meantime, this one is confirmed.
Come along and lend your support if you can!
Last term, we had to manage without Jane for a couple of weeks….fortunately, Paul Watson stepped in and gave us the chance to get some gospel groove on!
We worked on this – and hope to get to work with Paul again.
Christmas 2016- celebratory
songs at various local pubs.
Every year we visit local pubs singing to collect money for a local charity. Date to be decided. Why not join us?
Our repertoire is constantly expanding. Lately, we have been learning a beautiful arrangement of John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s song, ‘Blackbird’. If you’d like to sing along, why not join us? We meet every Thursday during term time, 7.15pm at Woodgrange school, and we love to welcome new members. See the About Us section on this site for more information about how to join.
